These showy flowers put the Nature Conservancy's Pontotoc Ridge Preserve on the map. This preserve is in south central Oklahoma and protects a mosaic of woodlands, limestone glades, and prairies.

One thing is certain - the wind will blow in Oklahoma! Sometimes, instead of fighting the wind, I work with it, as I did for this picture. With a slow shutter speed the flowers moved during the exposure producing a painterly effect.
